The
Power of Partnership
It's
almost impossible to awaken alone and some say the only true awakening
happens in relationship, in our partnering with others. A few
years ago I had this realization that I needed partners to deepen
my personal practice, I started talking about a "spiritual
partners club" people seemed to like the idea, but nothing
happened, for about a year.
Then
a few summers ago, I was participating in a discussion group with
about 25 people at a picnic/party/celebration for an online Yahoo
group to which I belong. The topic was spirituality and relationships.
I was so impressed with the quality of our little group of mostly
strangers, that I sent an email to the whole Yahoo group with
the subject line "Exploring Spiritual Partnerships".
In the email I expressed my appreciation for the openness and
honesty of our discussion and suggested that we continue our conversation.
I immediately got about 50 emails wanting to know where and when
we would meet. 5 weeks later I got to facilitate my first Exploring
Spiritual Partnerships event. This event continued up until last
year when I changed the format to a large informal party/mixer
every few months and smaller more focused "practice groups".
I
am currently working a new group concept called Honesty Circles.
I'll be posting more about them very soon.
We
are building a social network of people interested in a deeper
connection, many are single and so some of our events are singles
oriented.
Most of our activities and events are open to everyone regardless
of relational status. There are many kinds of "spiritual
partnerships" and so when our single friends, couple up they
don't have to leave the community. Check out
the HealingWords month at a glance calendar
for local social events, workshops and parties that attract wonderful,
spiritually and socially aware people.

| From Consciousness -- Catalyst
for Transformation
Being the knowing creates a clear space of loving presence
that allows all things and all people to be as they are.
No greater catalyst for transformation exists. If you practice
this, your partner cannot stay with you and remain unconscious.
If you both agree that the relationship will be your spiritual
practice, so much the better.
You can then express your thoughts and feelings to each
other as soon as they occur, or as soon as a reaction comes
up, so that you do not create a time gap in which an unexpressed
or unacknowledged emotion or grievance can fester and grow.
